Therapy for individual adults in north texas
You have always had a dream of what your life should be, what you are destined for, but something holds you back.
Do you feel as if what holds you back is robbing you of your destiny?
There is hope! Success often lies in the struggle!
The distance between where we believe we should be and where we see ourselves presently can be filled with guilt and shame, creating a perpetual cycle.
“I’m 30 (or 40 or 50) years old. I should be over this. I should have that.” The expectations that we have of ourselves come from many places, including society, friends, family and ourselves. At times, the negative voices from both past and present can yell so loudly in our minds that it is difficult to hear ourselves. The “shoulds” actually hold us back from accomplishing our true goals, our dreams, our destiny. As if that challenge is not enough, negative life experiences can validate those negative voices.
The good news is that we have choices. We can choose the voice that we want to hear. We can take action despite what we hear, creating small successes that lead to larger successes, redefining our life story. We can take steps to bridge the gap between where we are vs where we would like to be.
Hi, I’m Gay Lee.
About Me…
As a therapist, I provide clients with a safe place to re-define themselves. I utilize psycho-education to provide tools for growth and change, rational emotive behavioral therapy to assist clients with changing negative beliefs and an integrative approach in order to meet the individual needs of clients.
As a part of the therapeutic process, I utilize specific journaling strategies, activities between sessions, a safe, non-judgmental environment, in-office or online sessions and opportunities for reflections on progress.
Prior to being in the mental health field, I spent 27 years in the field of education helping children achieve their dreams. I believe that it is never too late for adults to achieve theirs!
